MG UNIVERSITY INTER ZONE TUG OF WAR CHAMPIONSHIP (M&W) 2023-24 

M.G. University Interzone Tug of War Championship 2023-24, held at SSV College on February 21, 2024, was a resounding success with the enthusiastic participation of 47 teams from various colleges. The event, inaugurated by Sri. Brigesh Pattassery, Manager of SSV College, and presided over by Dr. K.M. Sudhakaran, Principal, showcased the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

Dignitaries gracing the occasion included Sri. A.A. Bhattathiripad, Chairman of the Sree Sankara Trust, Sri. Shan Muhammed, Secretary of the Kerala Tug of War Association, Sri. Rasheed, Secretary of the Ernakulam Tug of War Association, and Sri. Johnson, Treasurer of the Kerala Tug of War Association. They were honored during the felicitation ceremony, underscoring their significant contributions to the world of tug of war.

Sri. Anup Jain M J, Head of Physical Education and Convener of the event, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The inauguration commenced at 9:35 am on February 21, 2024, followed by the tournament at 10 am.

The championship distinguished itself with several noteworthy features:

  • Two professionally prepared courts were designated for the tournament, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for both men and women teams.
  • Qualified National Referees, in collaboration with the Kerala Tug of War Association, officiated the matches, upholding the highest standards of the sport.
  • Alan Catering Service from Allappra provided delectable food and refreshments for all participants, adding to the overall enjoyment of the event.
  • A total of six CCTV surveillance cameras were strategically placed in the court and its surroundings to facilitate smooth event management.
  • Team managers, coaches, officials, and volunteers were treated to complimentary food and refreshments, recognizing their integral role in the success of the championship
  • Ample drinking water facilities were conveniently located near the playground and its surroundings, ensuring the well-being of all involved
  • A team of professional medical experts, equipped with an ambulance, stood by to provide immediate first aid and emergency medical assistance.
  • Embossed medals and trophies were awarded to the deserving winners, runners-up, and second runners-up, adding a touch of prestige to their achievements
  • Professional photographers covered the event, capturing the thrilling moments for posterity
  • The championship was live-streamed on YouTube, ensuring a wider audience and enhancing the overall visibility of the event.
  • Media coverage in newspapers and channels further heightened the profile of the championship, showcasing the achievements of the participants.

During the closing ceremony, the Principal took a moment to honor the technically proficient officials whose dedication and expertise had been instrumental in ensuring the seamless conduct of the championship. Their commitment to upholding the highest standards of the sport did not go unnoticed, and the Principal extended heartfelt appreciation, acknowledging their pivotal role in the success of the event. The recognition bestowed upon these officials added a touch of prestige to their contribution and underscored the importance of their technical prowess in the realm of sportsmanship.

The closing ceremony, graced by Sri. A.A. Bhattathiripad, Chairman of the Sree Sankara Trust, as the chief guest, featured a Medal Ceremony function inaugurated at 5 pm on February 21, 2024. Sri. Brigesh Pattassery, Manager, served as the chief guest, with Prof. (Dr.) K.M. Sudhakaran, Principal, presiding over the ceremony. Felicitations were extended by Sri. Shan Muhammed, Sri. Shanawas, Prof. Abin from Newman College, Thodupuzh. Sri. Anup Jain, Head of Physical Education, expressed gratitude and The closing ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Sri. Sanalraj, the Tournament Director.
