With the inception in 1968 with Pre-degree, the department of Physics became a full-fledged undergraduate department in 1993. Our vision is to impart scientific knowledge and attitude to explore the expansive development of Science that will serve the society. Our mission is to build a basis for excellence by promoting enthusiasm, interests and passion in the study of physics as a part of curriculum. The Department satisfies the academic requirements of physics aspiring young minds.

Department has a B.Sc Subsidiary lab and a BSc main lab with a dark room and computer lab. The department is provided with a good library with variety of physics related books.The department consists of four faculty and two non-teaching staff who focus on guiding students in achieving academic excellence, improvement of overall personality and scientific temper.The Department extends personal care to students hailing from socially and economically weaker sections of the society and encourage curricular & cocurricular excellence of the students. In 2017curriculam is restructured and choice based credit & semester system is introduced. The department helps students in carrying seminars and programs to instigate scientific attitude and research culture among the student community. Science popularization programs like Sky watch, add on couses, hands on training sessions and exhibitions have always added pace in the path of progress of the department.
