The Department of English has a long history along with the history of Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom College (affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam) which was founded in the year 1967. English plays a vital role in the life of every student who walks the corridors of a campus. In 1999 our college could start a Graduation Course English Model Two with ‘Teacher of English in Lower Classes’. Then in 2012 the title of the Course changed to ‘Teaching’. The course is related to teaching as the title suggests and currently the course offers papers in relation to both teaching as well as English literature so as to equip and excel students in both the areas (teaching and literature) in their future endeavours. The course definitely supports and renders base for those aspirants who are interested to make a choice of their profession as teachers.
