The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as a part of college/university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple exits such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF (National skill Qualifications framework). The B.Voc. programme is focused on universities and colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge. The proposed vocational programme will be a judicious mix of skills, professional education related to concerned vocation and also appropriate content of general education.

Bachelor of Vocational (B.Voc) is a skill development based higher education graduate program with multiple exit options such as diploma or advanced diploma. B.Voc programs will provide industry relevant skills and knowledge in a specified job role to become a trained professional in that industry. If students are successfully completed all the six semesters (3 Years) then they will be awarded with Bachelor of Vocational (B.Voc). If the students are successfully completed four semesters (2 Years) or two semesters (1 Year) then they will be awarded with Advanced Diploma or Diploma respectively. Bachelor of Vocational or B.Voc in Tourism and Hospitality Management is a three year program consisting of six semesters.

Tourism is the movement of people from their normal place of residence to another place for fun or for pleasure. The concept of hospitality is about receiving guests in a spirit of goodwill, hospitality implies warmth, respect and even protection. Tourism deals with attractions, activities, and events, while Hospitality focuses on providing people great accommodation, travel, as well as other facilities like restaurants or sports centers. Hospitality management is the coordination and controlling of the administrative tasks of any organization in the hospitality industry by overseeing and supervising the day to day business activities.

This course equips students with the management, marketing and operational skills necessary to successfully fulfill a position within the tourism or hospitality arenas.
