Department Profile
The Department of computer science was established in 2001 with B.Sc. Computer Science programme under unaided stream with an annual intake of 24 students. In 2010 the course was converted into aided stream and recently in 2020 it was upgraded as PG department with M.Sc. Computer Science (Data Analytics). Since its inception the department has acted as benchmark setters in almost all activities of the institution. The UGC Sponsored National Seminar on Hidden Markov Model in 2008 was first among its kind in the institution, the UGC Sponsored National Conference on Cyber Law and Cyber Forensics was also a bench mark setter by publishing the proceedings with ISBN number and the high number of other state participants. The research culture implementation among the PG students, which resulted in 11 international conference presentations and 11 international peer reviewed journal publications is also marked as a milestone.
The students of the department make us proud every year by regularly placing themselves in the top positions in the university examinations, and the alumni presence in the leading MNCs and top institutions are promising. The Department is also keen in developing research culture among faculty and students by conducting FDPs, Workshops, external and internal sessions regularly . The students are encouraged to do their project work to solve real world problems.
The department also offers four more career oriented programmes that foster the career opportunities of the students from other disciplines with UGC and State Government Certifications. Various value added programmes are provided to the in house students and faculties through its NPTEL local chapter.
The department offers state of the art laboratories to take up any complex computational needs with its high performance servers and well maintained computational facilities. The department book bank is an ever growing and most useful resource for the students, which adds books and magazines every year with the support from alumni, management and faculties.
