Welcome to the Second ISCLR webinar in association with Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom College and Center for Urban Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University.


Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom College and Center for Urban Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India and ISCLR are jointly organizing a webinar series on Zoom. The subject will be ‘Contemporary Legends and Pandemic Lore’. The webinar will be organized for three days, three hours each day. The program is fixed for 9th, 10th, and 11th November 2021.

Sree Sankara Vidyapeetom College and Center for Urban Studies Mahatma Gandhi University, in collaboration with ISCLR, set the digital stage for an event that analyses narratives and lore, in this case contemporary ones. As customary in folk narration, the tales show both variability and stability in form and content, while the spread of contemporary legends and lore may follow specific conduits. The webinar also dwells on the transmission of both universal and local motifs, in the context of time and place. The presentations and discussions will focus on the different media of transmission, whether it be oral tradition, protest demonstrations, print (newspapers, magazines), email threads, discussion forums, social media, radio, television or movies. There will be no registration fees for participants joining the webinar.
